How to Get an Arrest Warrant Expunged From Your Record

Expungement is the process of getting a prior criminal conviction sealed or destroyed from your personal record through the legal system. When a criminal record is removed, the record(s) will be unavailable through the state or Federal repositories and hidden from public view. Once an expungement has been granted you can treat the criminal record as if it never existed. This means you can legally deny or fail to disclose having been charged with any crime which has been expunged and the record will no longer show up on background checks.

In the United States, many types of criminal records may be expunged. Laws vary by state and the likely hood of an expungement being accepted depends upon whether you have any prior convictions, the nature of the crime you were charged with, if you're serving parole, etc. Records available for expungement may range from parking fines to felonies.

If there are files on your record from a previous warrant that you would like to get expunged, then you should go to the local court house and submit paperwork for due process to have them removed. However, please note that the court has the right to deny your request for specific offenses such as sexual battery, child abuse, arson and aggravated assault. It's highly recommended to hire an attorney to get a record successfully removed. A criminal lawyer knows the law and how to approach the court system to get a record successfully removed.
